Adventist Health System will continue to partner with New Smyrna Beach, Fla.-based Bert Fish Medical Center, officials said in a Nov. 9 news release.
Adventist, Bert Fish partnership reaffirmed
The decision came after three weeks spent hearing proposals from Adventist and two other hospital systems, Health Management Associates, Naples, Fla., and Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona, Fla., according to the release.
Bert Fish Medical Center made the initial decision to partner with Winter Park, Fla.-based Adventist in July, but concerns about potential violations of the state's Sunshine Law prompted the Southeast Volusia Hospital District Board of Commissioners and Bert Fish Medical Center's board of directors to start the search for an affiliate over again.
“This decision comes after a second and very thorough examination of AHS and competitors, so we are obviously pleased with the boards' decision,” said Daryl Tol, CEO of the Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler market, part of Adventist. “We are overwhelmed by, and appreciative of, the tremendous show of support from the community, which certainly indicates the confidence residents have in the Florida Hospital name.”
