Merge Healthcare, a medical imaging and information technology company formerly based near Milwaukee and now in Chicago, has appointed Jeffery Surges as its new CEO. He replaces Justin Dearborn, who will assume the newly created role of president and focus on international business, according to a news release announcing the appointment.
Surges was appointed to the Merge board of directors in May and continued to work as the president of sales for Allscripts in Chicago. He previously worked as president and CEO of the Extended Care Information Network, a Chicago-based care-management software company. He started at ECIN in October 1999, and was working there when Allscripts acquired the company in December 2007.
Before that, he served as president and general manager of McKesson HBOC's Resource Management Group, according to the release. Surges' age was unavailable at deadline.
