MedLink, a health information-technology company based in Ronkonkoma, N.Y., has acquired the assets of MedAppz, a Wichita, Kan.-based maker of electronic health-record systems and practice-management software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The purchase will allow MedLink to increase its reach into the physician-practice market and also expand its offerings with MedAppz's Web-based applications, according to a news release announcing the deal.
MedAppz also is one of a few vendors that have been cleared by the CMS for direct EHR reporting of quality data—a feature that will help MedLink customers qualify for federal and state incentives for health IT adoption, MedLink CEO Ray Vuono said in the release.
Brian Lichtlin, MedAppz's founder and CEO, will join MedLink as executive vice president of the company's EHR division.
