Feds probe Calif. hospital; reason withheld
The investigation was coordinated through the San Bernardino County Joint Corruption Task Force and includes FBI agents and county district attorney investigators, according to a statement from San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael Ramos.
The investigation “does not involve the quality of patient care or treatment,” Ramos said in the statement. His office declined to comment further on the nature of the inquiry.
In a separate statement, officials from San Bernardino County and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center said they are cooperating fully with the investigation.
“The county has been admonished by investigators to say nothing more about the matter,” according to the statement. “Disclosing information about the matter would constitute an interference with investigators and in some respects a violation of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.”
