GE Healthcare, Waukesha, Wis., announced a deal to acquire Orbotech Medical Solutions for up to $14 million.
GE Healthcare to acquire Israeli tech company
The cash deal includes $9 million plus another $5 million in payments tied to performance, according to a GE Healthcare news release. Orbotech Medical Solutions manufactures a component—known as cadmium zinc telluride detectors—used in GE Healthcare nuclear medicine technology, a spokeswoman for GE healthcare said.
Orbotech Medical Solutions is a subsidiary of Orbotech, based in Yavne, Israel, and develops and manufactures solid-state gamma radiation detector modules for imaging applications, Orbotech said in a news release. The deal, expected to close by the first quarter of 2011, must clear customary closing conditions, including approval from regulators.
