For those still struggling to find work, it may be of little comfort, but the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression officially ended more than a year ago, officials announced today.
The recession that began in December 2007 ended in June 2009, the National Bureau of Economic Research said.
After 18 months, it was the longest recession since World War II, the bureau said. Two prior recessions (one that began in November 1973 and another that began in July 1981) each lingered for 16 months. Read more at Melanie Evans' Of Interest blog. »
