Physician informaticist Hilary Worthen, M.D., was named chief medical information officer at Cambridge (Mass.) Health Alliance, a public healthcare delivery network affiliated with Harvard Medical School and the Tufts University School of Medicine, according to a Cambridge news release. Worthen previously served as senior director of clinical informatics at CHA, which includes three hospitals, a primary-care and specialty practice network, the Cambridge Public Health Department and the Network Health plan. Worthen joined the staff at Cambridge Hospital, now part of CHA, in 1974. He co-founded the Cambridge Family Health practice, served as the hospital's medical director for adult and family ambulatory care and was director of inpatient medical and surgical services. Worthen shifted his focus to health information technology about 10 years ago, according to the news release.
