Leslie Norwalk, a former acting administrator for the CMS in the George W. Bush administration, has joined the board of directors of IkaSystems, Southborough, Mass.
Norwalk is a principal in the healthcare consulting firm of Norwalk & Associates and is affiliated with EBG Advisors, a unit of the Washington law firm of Epstein Becker & Green, where she worked as a healthcare lawyer before joining the CMS.
Norwalk also serves on the boards of Broadlane, Sound Inpatient Physicians, Guardian Healthcare and Sante Pediatric Rehabilitation, according to a news release from IkaSystems. The company provides Web-based business process optimization and intelligence management systems to healthcare payers.
Norwalk stepped down from her CMS post in 2007 after spending nearly six years with the federal Medicare and Medicaid oversight agency.
She has a bachelor's degree in economics and international relations from Wellesley (Mass.) College and a law degree from George Mason University, Fairfax, Va.
