Rocker Sheryl Crow is lending her name and support to a new breast cancer imaging center in Los Angeles.
The Sheryl Crow Imaging Center is housed at the Pink Lotus Breast Center in Beverly Hills, and provides state-of-the-art digital screening and diagnostic imaging. The founder of the Pink Lotus Breast Center, Kristi Funk, was Crow’s surgical oncologist.
Crow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 at age 43. In a blog post, the “Strong Enough” singer says she has since become a passionate advocate for early detection of breast cancer.
“As I learned more about breast cancer, mammography and early detection, it was obvious that much of the system is still fragmented and, simply put, broken,” Crow writes. “Even though I had dodged my own cancer bullet, the stories I heard from many other survivors clearly reminded me that there was much to be done for women in America.”
