Electronic health-record systems developer Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions has announced the completion of its acquisition of Eclipsys Corp., also an EHR systems developer.
Allscripts completes Eclipsys acquisition
The combination has been renamed Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, also reflecting the divestiture last month by Misys of a portion of its interest in the old firm. Even after the majority ownership divestment, London-based Misys retains about 19 milliion shares of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, a 10.2% stake, according to Allscripts spokesman Todd Stein.
The deal provides Chicago-based Allscripts, which historically has been a developer of products for ambulatory-care physicians, with a significant foothold in the market for hospital-focused health information technology products.
Allscripts and Eclipsys first announced the $1.3 billion deal in June.
