The global medical-products company Roche Group will pay $100 million cash to acquire BioImagene, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based developer of digital pathology workflow and analysis systems. The image-based technology allows for the management, analysis and virtual sharing of patients' tissue samples, according to a news release.
Under the deal, BioImagene will become part of Roche's Ventana Medical Systems division. The pending acquisition is subject to customary review and closing conditions. It is expected to close in the coming weeks, according to a news release.
