Wholesale prices for acute-care hospital services in June dropped 0.1% after remaining flat the prior month, according to preliminary Producer Price Index figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In June 2009, the hospital PPI climbed 0.1%. For the 12-month period ended last month, hospital wholesale prices rose 3.4% compared with 3% in the year-ago period.
Doc-office PPI rises in June
Wholesale prices for physician-office services increased 0.2% in June after no change the prior month, the preliminary figures show. The PPI for physician offices also rose 0.2% in June 2009. For the 12-month period ended last month, the index was up 2.9%. For the year-ago period, it rose 2.7%.
