The Missouri Hospital Association, based in Jefferson City, has launched a website aimed at providing the state's residents with useful health information while alerting them to hospital-based wellness events in their communities.
The site, Missouri Health Matters, contains instructional articles written by Missouri physicians and health advocates. A wide range of topics, from health insurance, smoking cessation and obesity to allergies and childhood fitness, is covered. One article explains the importance of acting quickly in the event of a stroke so that clot-busting drugs can be administered to prevent loss of brain function.
The website also includes a hospital events page noting the times and locations of health screenings, classes, workshops, fundraisers and support-group meetings.
“We're excited about the website's capacity to increase Missourians' access to health and wellness information,” Herb Kuhn, MHA's president and CEO, said in a news release. “Missouri Health Matters extends the reach of hospitals' expertise while providing the tools Missourians need to find health-related events in their communities.”
