Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, is set to begin its own medical school, after Gov. Charlie Crist signed off on legislation authorizing its establishment.
Fla. university gets final OK to establish med school
FAU's doctor of medicine program was given final approval on Saturday.
The university says students will be taught in a smaller, interactive learning environment that introduces the future physicians to clinical training in community-based hospitals early on.
The inaugural class is expected to begin in the fall of 2011.
Florida International University and the University of Central Florida both opened medical schools and welcomed their first class of students last August.
