Merge Healthcare, a medical imaging and information technology company based in Milwaukee, has named Jeff Surges to a new position on its board of directors. Surges, 42, is the president of sales for Allscripts, Chicago, and he will continue to serve in that role, according to an Allscripts spokeswoman.
Surges was previously the president and CEO of Extended Care Information Network, a care management software company also based in Chicago. Surges joined Allscripts after it acquired Extended Care in late 2007.
“We are very excited to have Jeff join our board,” Justin Dearborn, CEO of Merge, said in a news release. “He brings valuable knowledge of the overall health IT market and experience in successfully integrating companies post acquisition and driving sales growth. Jeff joins a group of business leaders who have worked hard on behalf of Merge with no cash compensation, and who have each personally invested in the company through common stock purchases.”
