The developers of the Nashville Medical Trade Center have reached an agreement to have the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society lease space at the medical mart, making it the first of three competing efforts to secure a tenant.
The deal, first reported by Modern Healthcare in March during coverage of the annual HIMSS conference, also includes an agreement between HIMSS and the mart's developer, Market Center Management Co., to offer continuing medical education programming at the facility. HIMSS said it will also set up an interactive showcase demonstrating how IT applications can share data across healthcare settings as part of its presence at the facility.
Financial details for the lease agreement have not been finalized, according to Market Center Management spokesman Cole Daugherty. The 1.5 million-square-foot permanent medical marketplace is set to open in early 2013, the developers said. Similar competing efforts are being mounted in New York and Cleveland.
