David Barrett, M.D., will step down from his post as president and CEO of the Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Clinic in January 2011, according to a news release. Barrett, 68, has led the two-hospital medical center, which is affiliated with Tufts University Medical School, since 1999.
Lahey's board of directors has formed a search committee that will begin in April looking for Barrett's replacement. Barrett will remain with the medical center in an unspecified leadership role through September 2012 to help facilitate the transition, clinic officials said. He will also continue his work as a doctor and urology professor at Tufts.
