La. hospital shuts doors
Rene Milligan, the department’s director of communications, did not have a comment about the reason for the hospital’s closure, but said the department had requested a formal notice in writing, which it received on Feb. 18.
A story from the Associated Press said creditors had forced the company operating the hospital to file for bankruptcy in 2007. Citing the Shreveport Times newspaper, the Associated Press said the hospital is likely to be auctioned at a foreclosure sale in March.
“The Bank of Texas in 2009 filed foreclosure proceedings against Simba Ventures Shreveport, saying the company owes nearly $12.5 million,” according to the Associated Press story. “The company forestalled foreclosure auctions in August and January. Another sale is scheduled for March 31.”
