Trinity Health, Novi, Mich., named Benjamin Carter as chief financial officer, effective March 1.
Trinity Health names Benjamin Carter CFO
Carter, 51, succeeds Maria Szymanski, who was named the Catholic health system's interim finance chief in January 2009 after Edward Chadwick stepped down and formed his own consulting company. Chadwick was named executive vice president of finance and CFO for Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C., in July 2009. Szymanski, whose age was unavailable at deadline, will continue as Trinity Health's chief development officer and senior vice president, a position she has held since July 2006.
Carter joins Trinity from the Detroit Medical Center, where he was executive vice president and chief operating officer, and will oversee Trinity's financial management, financial reporting, budget development and strategic financial and capital planning, the health system said in a news release announcing his appointment. Prior to the Detroit Medical Center, he spent six years as CFO of Oakwood Healthcare, Dearborn, Mich. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan.
