CHS buys Wash. state physician group
Shareholders of the Rockwood Clinic voted in favor of the sale to the large publicly traded hospital chain, though the deal is pending “normal closing conditions,” a news release said. The deal is expected to close in January 2010, which will be followed by a reorganization of the physicians group into a local subsidiary of Community Health Systems. Financial details of the sale were not immediately disclosed.
The Rockwood Clinic includes 32 locations across the inland northwest region of Washington state, including 220 physicians and midlevel providers in more than 30 specialties. The new network will be anchored by Community Health Systems’ two acute-care hospitals in Spokane: 265-bed Deaconess Medical Center-Spokane, and 123-bed Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
