Brookdale Senior Living, Brentwood, Tenn., said it has paid $102 million to purchase three retirement communities that it formerly managed. The company disclosed neither the seller or sellers nor the locations of the three facilities. The three communities had revenue of $18.1 million for the nine months ended Sept. 30, according to a press release from Brookdale. The company said it financed the purchase, in part, with a $75.4 million, 10-year mortgage loan from the Federal National Mortgage Association, better known as Fannie Mae.

As of Sept. 30, Brookdale owned 167 retirement communities, leased 358 and managed 22. Last month, Brookdale acquired 18 retirement communities for $190 million from Sunrise Senior Living, McLean, Va.
