Clayton Williams, director of the Louisiana Public Health Institute's Health Systems Division, will become the state's new assistant secretary of public health on Jan. 18, 2010, according to an announcement from Louisiana Health and Hospitals Department Secretary Alan Levine. Williams will succeed Rony Francois, who will leave the position to focus on a comprehensive, statewide effort to improve Louisiana's birth outcomes. An announcement about his new position said Williams most recently oversaw the $100 million federal Primary Care Access and Stabilization Grant, which provides money for more than 90 primary-care and behavioral health clinics in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes in Louisiana. Their ages were unavailable at deadline.
