Medical City Dallas Hospital has named Erol Akdamar as its new president and CEO, effective Jan. 11, 2010.
Akdamar named CEO of Texas hospital
Akdamar, 42, currently serves as CEO at St. David's South Austin Hospital. For the past 15 years, he has held a variety of senior management positions at hospitals involved in partnerships with Hospital Corporation of America and tax-exempt organizations such as St. David's in Austin, Texas, Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., and Tulane University Hospitals in New Orleans.
A news release about Akdamar's appointment highlighted some of his recent successes, including expanding admissions by 20% and securing funding for a $72 million campus expansion. Akdamar was named a Modern Healthcare Up & Comer in 2006.
A graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Akdamar earned a master's degree in healthcare administration from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans.
