Archie Banks was named interim director of the Office of Health Information Technology and Transparency in the Georgia Community Health Department.
Banks, whose age was unavailable at deadline, will oversee and coordinate the state's Medicaid Health Information Technology Plan and help to promote electronic health records among Medicaid providers. He will also continue to hold his role of director of the Office of Information Technology for the public health division within the community health department, according to a state news release. Banks holds a bachelor's degree in IT.
Georgia has been developing health IT initiatives for several years, including a health information exchange, incentives for EHR adoption and a transparency Web site for consumers.
