NorthShore University HealthSystem, Evanston, Ill., closed its previously announced acquisition of the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch Medical Group, or CINN. Leonard Cerullo, M.D., a prominent neurosurgeon who founded CINN in 1987, will continue serving as the group's medical director. Seventeen CINN neurosurgeons will join the staff of NorthShore, which has four campuses in Chicago's northern suburbs. “NorthShore's excellence in specialty medicine and its strong network of primary-care physicians will benefit our physicians and patients,” Cerullo says in a news release. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition included CINN's 90-bed Neurologic & Orthopedic Hospital of Chicago, which NorthShore has closed. A spokeswoman says the system has no plans for the facility.
