Healthcare provider Metropolitan Health Networks—referred to as Metcare—said Chairman and CEO Michael Earley will step down.
Earley stepping down as Metcare CEO
The West Palm Beach, Fla., company said it will begin a search for someone to succeed Earley, who will stay in the position until March 31, 2010, or until a successor is named. Earley, 54, who has been with the company since March 2003, will remain a member of the board. Before he worked at Metcare, he was a director there from June 2000 until December 2002. Earley became chairman of the company in September 2004. Meanwhile, Eric Haskell, the board's lead independent director, will assume the duties of chairman immediately.
“The next few years have the potential to be an exciting time for our company, making it an ideal time to further enhance the depth and strength of its senior leadership,” Earley said in a news release. “The long-term prognosis for the provision of senior-focused healthcare services is marked by an increasing demographic and is very encouraging for the company going forward.”
Established in 1996, Metcare provides healthcare services to about 33,000 customers with Medicare in 18 counties in South and Central Florida.
