The Republicans are not and have never been for substantive healthcare reform. The aim is to block the possible re-election of the current president. Yet they are so uninformed to realize that by the time of the next presidential election, without healthcare reform, the cost will be so prohibitive that all economic gains will be erased by the healthcare problem.
GOP moves are aimed at Obama
The next presidential candidates, regardless of party affiliation, will support immediate reform with a public option. There will be no other responsible choice. The main difference is the number of uninsured will be at least 10 million more, and the average premium cost will be at least $18,000 per year if not higher.
I do a lot of healthcare consulting in Korea, and they are 10 years ahead of us, so it is about time.
