Long-term-care provider the Ensign Group, McAllen, Texas, has acquired three skilled-nursing facilities in Texas and one in Arizona. In Texas, the Ensign Group purchased Grand Terrace Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in McAllen, Alta Vista Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Brownsville, and Veranda Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Harlingen from the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, a not-for-profit senior-care provider based in Sioux Falls, S.D. All three facilities were bought with cash, but additional financial terms were not available.
Ensign acquires four skilled-nursing facilities
The Ensign Group also acquired the SunView Care Center, an operating skilled nursing and Alzheimer’s campus in Youngstown, Ariz., adding a new facility and services on the west side of the Phoenix metro area.
In a news release about the deals, Ensign Group’s President and CEO Christopher Christensen said the company is actively seeking additional opportunities to acquire both well-performing and struggling long-term-care operations across the western U.S. Ensign now has 77 facilities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Texas, Utah and Washington. Of those facilities, Ensign owns 46 and leases 31, while Ensign affiliates hold purchase options on nine of the leased facilities, the company said.
