Regarding “Opposition to reform is telling”:
It is equally interesting that the group which likes the recently passed Democratic healthcare bill the most happens to be the healthcare industry (AMA). And the political group promoting the greatest expansion of public care are the Democrats.
It would be far more helpful if we were to begin to discuss the specific aspects of the current healthcare system that can and should be improved while leaving the sensational and editorial jabs to ourselves.
This is serious and very difficult business. When it comes to the impact upon the citizens of our great nation, they deserve better than has been currently done by those of us who are or have been in the business.
They deserve a careful analytical and issue focused plan which will deal with the causes of skyrocketing healthcare costs. There is a virtual cornucopia of issues that need attention for the public good. These include malpractice costs, pharmaceutical costs, the technology elemental costs, insurance reform (capricious cancellation, existing condition exclusion, transferability), redesign of medical spending account regulations and the like.
