Senate Democrats got schooled on the politics and policies behind healthcare reform by the one person who knows best: former President Bill Clinton.
On Capitol Hill to rally Democrats split over major components of a health overhaul package, Clinton pressed an economic and personal case to join together and pass a bill this year.
“I think it is good politics to pass this,” Clinton told reporters after meeting with the Democratic caucus. “But the important thing is, it is the right thing for America.”
Clinton, according to senators who attended the meeting, also focused on a timeline for passage.
