This is the second year Modern Healthcare has conducted a survey of large employers seeking information on their healthcare expenditures.
How we did it
The survey opened July 6 and closed on Sept. 25. Copies of the survey were mailed to Fortune 1000 companies as well as others that have participated in other Modern Healthcare surveys. Modern Healthcare also promoted the survey through its Web site, in e-mail newsletters and in the print magazine.
To qualify, employers were required to have a minimum of $1 billion in U.S. annual revenue. Governmental organizations were not eligible. The survey once again was co-sponsored by the Leapfrog Group and the National Business Coalition on Health.
Thirty-eight companies responded this year, down from 45 last year.
