Inpatient rehabilitation-services provider HealthSouth Corp. said it approved changes to its bylaws, including a rule that would allow it to take back bonuses from executives who engage in misconduct.
HealthSouth targets bonuses of execs involved in misconduct
The policy will allow HealthSouth to require the return of bonus or incentive money paid to executives after Jan. 1, 2010. The company said it has approved the rule in general terms. Courts have held former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy liable for $2.9 billion in accounting fraud that took place during Scrushy's tenure.
HealthSouth also said it approved an amendment to its bylaws that will reimburse shareholders for expenses related to proxy solicitation campaigns.
