Tenet Healthcare Corp., Dallas, said it has hired Kelvin Baggett, M.D., as its new chief medical officer, effective Oct. 26. Baggett, 38, is leaving Nashville-based HCA, where he was chief operating officer and vice president of clinical strategy for the company’s clinical services group. He is Tenet’s first CMO since Jennifer Daley, M.D., left the company in September 2007 to take the same position with Partners Community Healthcare in Boston. Baggett’s appointment will relieve Tenet COO Stephen Newman, M.D., of duties that he has been handling since Daley’s departure. Baggett will report to Newman. Baggett earned his medical degree from East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C., and is a board-certified internist. He also earned a master’s in public health from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore; an MBA from Duke University, Durham, N.C.; and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
