Thomas Kennedy, former administrator at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater, Texas, died Oct. 16. Kennedy, 68, had served in the position from 1989 until he retired in May of this year. “The hospital considered it a privilege to take care of him during his illness,” said Donna Boatright, the hospital’s CEO who had worked with Kennedy for nearly 20 years as his associate administrator. She recalled Kennedy as a witty man with a dry sense of humor who “absolutely loved what he did” and enjoyed working at a small, rural facility. I think he loved the family atmosphere and the ability to make an impact,” Boatright said. Kennedy received the Regent’s Senior Level Healthcare Executive Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives in 1993.
