Continuum Health Partners, New York, named Gregory Calliste chief administrative officer of St. Luke’s Hospital, New York, part of the two-campus St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Calliste, 55, joined the Continuum system in early August from the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he was president and CEO. Also, Tim Day was named chief administrative officer of Roosevelt Hospital, New York. Day, whose age was unavailable from Continuum at deadline, previously was executive vice president and COO for St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. … John Allen retired as president and CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Neb. Allen, 62, has held the position since 2004, joining the Catholic Health Initiatives hospital from Spencer (Iowa) Hospital. Steve Loveless, vice president of ancillary and support services, 37, assumed interim leadership of Good Samaritan Oct. 7. … University of Iowa Health Care, Iowa City, hired physician Douglas Van Daele to become its first chief medical information officer. The system, which is anchored by University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, is developing a clinical information system, according to an announcement from system CIO Lee Carmen. In his new role Van Daele, 40, will spend half his time on development of the health information technology system and the other half in his physician practice. He serves as an assistant professor for the head and neck surgery department, and is the physician director of the otolaryngology department at the health center.
