Jeffrey Norman was named president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Md. Norman, 57, begins the job Nov. 9 and comes to the 332-bed Catholic Health Initiatives hospital from three-hospital Scottsdale (Ariz.) Healthcare, where he was executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Norman takes over at St. Joseph for Robert Lovell, who was named as an interim leader June 29 to fill the gap left when President and CEO John Tolmie resigned along with two other executives who had been placed on leave during a federal investigation into the hospital's relationship with a physicians group. St. Joseph announced in July that a tentative settlement had been reached, with no admission of liability. The agreement has yet to be finalized.
