Roland Goertz has been chosen president-elect of the American Academy of Family Physicians, according to a news release.
Goertz, 54, is a practicing family physician in Waco, Texas, and an associate clinical professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. As AAFP president-elect, Goertz will serve as a national advocate for family physicians. The AAFP represents roughly 94,600 physicians and medical students. Goertz takes over as president on Sept. 29, 2010.
