Consumer prices for hospital services increased 0.7% in September, up from 0.5% in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index. For the 12-month period ended Sept. 30, the hospital index climbed 7.1%, an increase identical to the year-ago period.
Consumers see hospital, doc-office prices increase
In September, the CPI for physician-office services rose 0.2% for the third straight month, the agency's data show. For the 12-month period ended in September, the physician index increased 2.9% compared with 3% during the year-ago period.
