Sisters of Mercy Health System, Chesterfield, Mo., said Gary Pulsipher will rejoin the Roman Catholic system as president and CEO of 357-bed St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., once the Mercy system acquires the hospital from Catholic Health Initiatives, Denver. In the meantime, Pulsipher will be a member of the transition team overseeing the transfer of the hospital, Mercy said.

Pulsipher worked for Sisters of Mercy between 1994 and 2002 as a hospital president and CEO and as a regional vice president overseeing five hospitals. Since then, he was president and CEO of 47-bed Columbus (Neb.) Community Hospital and administrator of 48-bed Silverton (Ore.) Hospital. He has a master's degree in public administration-healthcare from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and a bachelor's degree in accounting and German from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
