Humayun Chaudhry was named president and CEO of the Federation of State Medical Boards, the Dallas-based organization that represents the nation’s 70 medical boards. Chaudhry, 43, will assume the post in mid-October and will replace Barbara Schneidman, who has been serving as interim president and CEO since the retirement of James Thompson on Oct. 31, 2008. Chaudhry currently works as commissioner and CEO of the Suffolk County, N.Y., Health Services Department, a news release said. He is also a clinical associate professor of preventive medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine, an adjunct clinical associate professor of medicine at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of the New York Institute of Technology, and is serving as the 2008-09 president of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. … Alfred Gilchrist will take over as CEO of the California Medical Association, effective Nov. 16. Gilchrist, 55, is currently CEO of the Colorado Medical Society, and was formerly director of state and federal governmental advocacy for the Texas Medical Association. He replaces Joe Dunn, who announced his resignation in July. “Alfred Gilchrist has extraordinary knowledge on issues facing medicine,” said Dev GnanaDev, president of the California Medical Association, in a written statement.
