The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society announced winners of its 2009 Davies Awards, aimed at honoring the healthcare field for implementing technology that improves quality of care and outcomes.
MultiCare Health System, a hospital system based in Tacoma, Wash., won the organizational award. The ambulatory award was given to Virginia Women's Center, a provider of obstetric and gynecologic care. Two groups received the community health award: Urban Health Plan, New York—a network of health centers to reach underserved populations—and Heart of Texas Family Medicine, Waco, a family medicine center which targets impoverished residents in McLennan County.
HIMSS previously announced its public health award recipients. All honorees were recognized at a HIMSS event this week as part of National Health IT Week in Washington.
