Former Food and Drug Administration Deputy Commissioner John Norris has been appointed chief operating officer of Savannah, Ga.-based Health Discovery Corp., a molecular diagnostic testing company.
Norris, 62, will focus on creating new strategic partnerships, licenses and contracts to complement Health Discovery's existing agreements with Abbott Molecular, Bruker, Clarient, Pfizer and Quest Diagnostics, according to a news release.
In addition to serving as FDA deputy commissioner from 1985 to 1988, Norris has worked as a healthcare consultant advising pharmaceutical, medical device, health information technology and diagnostic companies.
