Barring that, could we at least have a public option so the government could compete with those same insurance companies and get them to reduce their premiums so their annual profits would be reduced to a sensible, reasonable amount? With a government insurance company ready, willing and able to take over the job of insuring all the people if the insurance companies refuse to do so at a reasonable price—now it is not reasonable, but obscene—we could get the insurance companies to join the group and all could live happily ever after. If they refuse, substitute a single-payer health system for all our citizens. People, wake up!
