Susan Besio of the state's office of Health Care Access says that by the time the original five-year waiver expires next fall it will have resulted in an additional $245 million the state would not have otherwise received.
Besio says the waiver helped hold down spending on federal and state insurance programs in Vermont.
The Rutland Herald says pending federal health care reform could change the program.
