Regarding “Group urges Sebelius on database access for all”:
I don't mind having open records for nurses. Most of us have clean, clear records with our nursing practice, but if you are going to do it for nurses, you better do it for physicians also. And it is important to remember, nurses police themselves better than physicians do. Physicians will know that another physician is not safe to practice but they will not take action unless absolutely necessary. And even then, very often they won't. I have seen this happen over and over again in my 31 years as a nurse. So the nurse ends up being the person who reports them. Then you end up with a situation like you have in Texas right now where nurses reported a physician as unsafe and they are in court because of it.
