(Chicago, IL) September 7, 2009 – Modern Healthcare announced today its second annual list of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare. A video announcement, along with an alphabetical listing of the winners is now available at modernhealthcare.com/bestplaces.
Three-hundred and seventeen (317) healthcare companies participated in this year's healthcare workplace listing – an increase of 34% (or 80 companies) over 2008. Modern Healthcare will reveal the specific ranking of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare, from 1 to 100, in a special supplement to be published October 26, 2009. The supplement also will recognize the top places to work by industry segment (provider, payer and vendor) and by number of employees, and will profile some of the recipients.
Modern Healthcare will also host a half-day conference and elegant award gala that will educate, inform and inspire. Attendees will network with fellow winners and industry leaders; hear from healthcare experts; learn how to leverage their Best Places to Work in Healthcare status and much more. The event will be held Tuesday, October 27 at the InterContinental Chicago. For more information about the conference and gala, or to RSVP, please visit our website at modernhealthcare.com/bestplaces.
Modern Healthcare partnered with Best Companies Group, a PA-based firm that administers “best places to work” programs nationwide. Modern Healthcare conducted this program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level. From economic development to employee retention, being named one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare benefits individuals, organizations and the healthcare industry.
The program collected information from both the employer and employees and was open to all companies (providers, suppliers, payers, associations, etc.) with at least 25 employees. Employers completed a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Employees were asked an in-depth set of questions that resulted in an analysis in 8 core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.
“Modern Healthcare congratulates all of the 100 organizations named to the magazine's list of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2009,” said Fawn Lopez, publisher of Modern Healthcare. “These healthcare employers demonstrate that building a culture in which employees are supported and engaged benefits not only patients and customers but the employers' financial performance as well.”
