IMedica Corp. said it has changed its name to Aprima Medical Software in a move to be more distinctive from competitors.
The Dallas-based company develops electronic health records and practice-management software for physician offices. With the name change, Aprima also launched a new site, aprimaEHR.com.
“Another company had established a similar mark before we were founded and before the current management team was in place. In fact, several healthcare companies have a similar reference in their name. Our brand must be as distinctive as our technology is innovative,” said Michael Nissenbaum, president and CEO, in a written statement.
