XLHealth, a Medicare health plan company, has named John Mach Jr., as chief medical officer, effective Aug. 1.
Mach, 55, was previously chairman and CEO of United HealthCare's Evercare health plans, the insurer's Medicare special-needs plans. He was also chief medical officer of United HealthCare's Ovations group, the business unit that oversees health plans for seniors. He spent 10 years in leadership roles at the Minneapolis Department of Veterans Affairs Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center.
At Baltimore-based XLHealth, Mach will oversee clinical-program development, medical management and quality improvement.
“John is a physician executive with outstanding credentials and a deep understanding of the special needs of our member population,” XLHealth's chairman and CEO Frederick Dunlap.
Mach is replacing Harry Leider.
