CEO Ferguson retiring; Garrett named acting chief
Robert Garrett, the hospitals executive vice president and chief operating officer, was named acting president and CEO. Ferguson has served in those roles for 23 years.
J. Fletcher Creamer, chairman of the hospitals board of governors, said in a news release that Garrett, 51, will be among the candidates in the hospitals search for a permanent successor to Ferguson, 60, a Modern Healthcare Up & Comer in 1988.
I am confident this will be a seamless transition, Creamer said regarding the search for a new president. Garrett joined 679-bed Hackensack University Medical Center in 1981 as an administrative resident and became executive vice president and COO in 1990.
