Regarding the article AMA leaders seem receptive to several Obama ideas:
WWOD: What would Obama do? Big question, no answers. The American Medical Association wasted another opportunity to focus attention on the real problems.
The AMA is trying to tango instead of seriously explaining why publicly funded healthcare for all will not even begin to work without abolition of malpractice and institution of a no-fault system similar to auto insurance systems. Doctors are not criminals who like to experiment on people. In the course of managing complex or even simple medical problems, the outcomes may be different than what is expected by the patient. We do not need John Edwards to help here. We need common-sense laws that would prevent the filing of a lawsuit in the first place. It is not possible to estimate the cost of defensive medical practice.
